We have seen a very good amount bluetooth controllers for Android tablets, but we must say we are rather impressed with the Nyko PlayPad controllers – The PlayPad and PlayPad Pro. The gamepads have the build-quality and feel that we can expect, though the regular PlayPad is a smaller portable version for gaming on-the-go. The controllers are also compatible with all NVIDIA gamepad-compatible titles in the Google Play Store. But what makes them special is compatibility with older, non-Tegra titles. More so, the way it works with said games.

The manufacturer has also developed an app to aid users in mapping their controllers. These can be mapped to keyboard buttons and even touchscreen buttons. We know, that sounds weird… but you have to see this. The application can take a screenshot of the game, later displaying a UI that allows you to decide which controller buttons control individual on-screen buttons. One simply needs to drag and drop from the mapping options to the correct location in the screen.

If that wasn’t enough, the company also offers an array of pre-configured downloadable settings for the most popular Android games out there. If mapping your controller gets too complicated, odds are the pre-configured download for the game of your choice will be available. You really have to see the video to understand it completely, so go ahead and check out our hands-on time with the controller!
