The Assassin’s Creed III naval battle trailer has gotten quite a lot of buzz since it’s debut yesterday, and for good reason. The trailer is amazing on many levels and it’s mind-blowing, coming from my own experience as ex merchant mariner and maritime history buff, as to how much detail has been put into this part of the game. Like I said yesterday, this “part” could very well be an entire stand-alone game.

Check out the video above for a PlayStation interview with Lead Game Designer of ACIII Steve Masters as he goes through the process that the design team went through to make this section of the game a reality. He talks about the reasoning for including naval warfare in the game (thank you) as well as the combat mechanics when your in the thick of it all out there on the raging high sea. Definitely worth a watching.

Although this is a PlayStation exclusive video, the naval warfare feature is part of Assassin’s Creed III on all platforms it is launching on.

Assassin’s Creed III is set to launch October 30 in North America and October 31 in Europe. It will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC.
