An email was sent out to all registered Goozex users entitled “Goozex new management.” In it we are introduced to the company’s new CEO, JP McCormick. He tells his loyal traders that the future will be bright for the site now that its a publicly traded company. Irony?
Over the past few months, the dedicated traders on the site have been speculating what would become of their beloved site since the previous owners sold and vamoosed . There were no notices or attempts by Goozex management to calm the qualm or tension in the trading community and this has led to a devastating drop in trader traffic. Where trades used to be in the 3000 to 4000 daily trading range, recently have dipped below 600. Most of the available games are old sports games that even GameStop doesn’t want to give a penny for.
McCormick mentions that he’s been reading all the comments on the forums. Instead of feeling hurt by them, he is inspired.
I have read all your posts extensively and am encouraged by the fervor and dedication most of you have for Goozex . Your messages are loud and clear and most importantly are being read and heard by management. Your are a fiery bunch and I like that, I think over time we can expect to have a lot of fun together developing Goozex to what it should be, the premier game trading site where all users get a fair trade at cheap prices.
I have been using Goozex since October 2008 and have trade credit and two tokens sitting in my account just waiting to grab anything for PS3 or Vita. My PS3 library tripled because of Goozex, and I have faith that the new management and the strong willed community can get the site back on its feet. The GoozCast has kept running strong featuring community voices, currently at episode #105 and running strong since 2007.
The forums are slowly flooding with responses to this update from McCormick. Nearly ever response I read said that same thing, that they were optimistic but extremely skeptical. No one seems to want to budge until management kicks in with some incentives for people to trade.
The lack of management has caused Goozex to completely miss out on the Wii U launch. Vita barely made it into the system, but hasn’t seen a game in the Available category since the handheld’s launch. I’m curious if you are a member of Goozex and if you think this might convince you to start trading again. Let me know in the comments section here.
