US Sony Stores Cut Price of 3G Vita by $100

PS Vita Official Price Cut

Despite previous statements from Sony that the PlayStation Vita would not see price cuts outside of Japan, many Sony stores in the US are dropping the price of their 3G model (this does not apply to the Wi-Fi only model). The 3G model is now priced at $199.97, confirmed by Joystiq in following Sony stores:

California

  • Costa Mesa, South Coast Plaza
  • Glendale, The Americana at Brand
  • Los Angeles, Beverly Center
  • Los Angeles, Century City
  • Santa Clara, Valley Fair

Colorado

  • Denver, Cherry Creek Shopping Center

Florida

  • Orlando, The Mall at Millenia
  • Tampa, International Plaza & Bay Street

Nevada

  • Las Vegas, The Forum Shops at Caesars

New Jersey

  • Edison, Menlo Park Mall

New York

  • Garden City, Roosevelt Field
  • New York, Sony Plaza

Pennsylvania

  • Philadelphia, The Market at Comcast Center

Texas

  • Houston, Houston Galleria

Virginia

  • McLean, Tysons Corner Center

Washington

  • Seattle, University Village

According to Joystiq, employees at different locations had different answers to the price cut. Some speculated the 3G model would soon be discontinued, others had no price drop listed in their system, and one store even said the sale was ending on Sunday. Sony has yet to drop the price online, so it’s quite possible this is just a temporary sale. It should also be noted that not all stores have dropped the price.

    Uh-oh – a “$.97″ means it is discontinued.
