Because we know just how much you guys love it when we stream live games, we’re bringing you an hour of live gameplay from WayForward’s latest game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, on the PS4 Pro! If you miss the broadcast, you’ll be able to see all of our Shantae shenanigans in an archived version shortly after we’re done.

For the uninitiated, Shantae, as the name implies, is a half-genie, half-human hybrid. This gives her abilities you don’t see in normal humans (and we presume genies, too?) such as the power to shapeshift into other animals. She’s kinda like Beast Boy from Teen Titans (or Teen Titans GO! if you’re into that).

By dancing, Shantae can morph (in spectacular fashion) into one of many animals, allowing her to reach new areas that were previously inaccessible in her human state. The overall game plays much like a Metroidvania, so shapeshifting and backtracking go hand-in-hand.

We’ll make a dedicated impressions article if you want later, but for now, we’ll just say we’re having a lot of fun with this little gem. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will be available digitally on the PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, and PC on December 20th. A physical release will be available for PS4 and Vita owners on December 20th, as well while Wii U owners will have to wait until December 27th.The physical version, dubbed the “Risky Beats Edition,” includes a copy of the game and soundtrack for $29.99. You can pre-order it from Amazon today.
