If you were lucky enough to have grown up for the dawning of video games then maybe you were also lucky enough to have played Alien Breed on the original Amiga. Just in case you aren’t that old, I mean lucky, you’re luck is about to change as Alien Breed hits EU PSN tomorrow for £6.49/€7.99; 20% off for PS Plus subscribers.

Alien Breed is a video game tribute to the original Alien(s) movies by the talented folks at Team17 and features throwback top-down alien killing action. This HD redux will come fully equipped with two graphics filters: a classic 16-bit and a modern smooth. Trophies, online leaderboards, and online and local multiplayer will also be new to the PS3/Vita port.

Thanks to the power of PlayStation you’ll be able to reap the rewards of Cross Buy. Alien Breed will cost just £6.49/€7.99 and 20% for Plus subs for both versions in one purchase. It will also support cross-platform multiplayer and Cross Save allowing you to play on one system, throw your save up into the cloud, and load it onto the other system.

If you are a fan of Team17 and their classic Amiga games, you may be interested to know that Kevin Carthew, the Creative Manager at Team17, has teased another PS3/Vita classic in today’s PlayStation Blog post. All he says is “there may be another princely character due to leap onto PS3 and PS Vita at some point in the future.” Could it be an HD Redux of the mildly received The Speris Legacy?

Alien Breed has been previously released on the PlayStation Mobile platform for play on the Vita and PlayStation Certified Android devices and iOS for iPhone and iPad, but it didn’t include any of the features listed above and has micro-transactions with the game itself costing up to €3.99. Even if you’ve already purchased the PSM or iOS version, do you think you’re fan enough to re-buy it for PS3/Vita with all those features calling out to you?
